A quiet resort

Compared to Westendorf last year, Bad Hofgastein is very similar in size, maybe slightly bigger but it’s really quiet, which is the only reservation for someone who wants to go out and travel by themselves. Bad Gastein is better in this respect but a taxi costs around 20 euros if you wanted to come back. This was the downside to Bad Hofgastein - although there are a couple of nice bars they were empty on week days, so there wasn’t much to do in the village at all.
The ski areas were quite good although I had to wait a bit for lifts (it was Russian Christmas and there were a lot of Russians at the time). It’s quite well connected and they transfer you to any resort you want, the only downside is that it’s not interconnected. The area is more suited to intermediate levels, although if you want a challenge there are some slopes that you can push yourself on. The Dorfgastein area was mellow and pretty empty which was nice. Conditions were quite good as well.
