With so much going on in Vail and the surrounding Vail Valley, you don't actually need to bother skiing or snowboarding if you don't want to; you can still be busy 24 hours a day. Indeed this is a very good destination choice if you have a non-skier or two in your party.
In the great outdoors, options include hot air ballooning (flights daily from Arrowhead), dog sledding or cross-country skiing. Snowcat tours and snowshoeing are also available along with back country ski tours and ski racing.
There's a nighttime activity centre, Adventure Ridge, at the 'Eagle's Nest' on Vail Mountain, accessed by the new gondola. Facilities there include an ice rink, sledding hill, ski-biking, and the start point of snowshoeing tours.
Off the snow the attractions are once again many. There are numerous spa centres and gym clubs in many of the resort's accommodations and most offer daily guest memberships. The Colorado Ski Museum and Ski Hall of Fame is particularly interesting.
