There are plenty of activities to try out in and around Taos ski valley, as well as a program of events and festivals that runs year round. Snowshoes and telemark skis are available for rental and snowmobile tours are available. Off-snow experiences include ballooning, climbing, hiking, biking and horse or llama riding.
The Taos Spa and Tennis Club features tennis, pools, hot tubs, cardiovascular equipment and weights room. Also the resort features and tubing on Strawberry Hill in the evenings.
The Winter Wine Festival staged late January each season is the oldest ski resort wine festival. More than 40 winemakers normally participate. The culmination of the week is Le Grande Tasting in Taos Ski Valley's Resort Center in the early evening. The two Grand Tastings are a gathering of participating wineries and local restaurants. For a reasonable fee guests receive a tasting glass and free reign to sample as much food and wine as they like.
The unique old town of Taos has a wealth of attractions. The seven museums, many with an artistic theme are available on a single multi-pass. However they also include La Hacienda de Los Martinez which has massive walls illustrating the rugged lifestyle of life in the area 200 years ago. You can take a historic trolley bus tour or guided walking tour of the town and the Chile Bus Line runs every 45 minutes to the World Heritage Site of Taos Pueblo (closed in Spring, please check ahead) and to the Taos Mountain Casino.
