Established in 1920 the American ski resort Stowe lies at ? metres altitude in the Vermont region of the American Green120 snow cannons ensure artificial Stowe snow making covers ?km of ski trails, which equates to around 90 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Stowe (USA) is Burlington at a distance of 41km or approximately 45 minutes driving time. Stowe ski season runs from November to April.

With skiing on Mount Mansfield, the highest peak in Vermont, Stowe is one of the best known resorts in the world, and one of the most picturesque. Lift-linked to Smugglers Notch. The world's fastest eight-passenger gondola opened here in 1992 and there is a full service ski and snowboard shop with demos from many manufacturers. Night skiing is also available. Stowe frequently receives top ratings in US ski and snowboarding magazine reader surveys of East Coast resorts.

There's plenty to do besides ski and 'board at Stowe. On the slopes you can try cross-country skiing, go night skiing, tobogganing, go back country snowmobiling or take a moonlit sleigh ride.
Off the slopes many of the accommodations have indoor pools (12 in total, plus two heated outdoor) and health and fitness facilities, you can also try horse riding, ice skating and indoor tennis.
The resort has a very active programme of activities and festivities throughout the winter with regular live music, firework displays and annual events like Winter Carnival.
One unusual and possibly unique asset is the Octagon Web Café high up on Mount Mansfield - probably the only high-altitude-internet-café in the world! There is also a cinema and various art galleries to visit.
Excursions in the area include a visit to Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill art nearby Waterbury.
