Established in ? the Austrian ski resort Schladming lies at 1800 metres altitude in the Steiermark / Styria region of the Austrian Alps / Alpes. With the highest lifts and ski slopes below 2500m Schladming ski area is not snow sure. Over 120 snow cannons ensure artificial Schladming snow making covers 175km of ski trails, which equates to around 100 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Schladming (Austria) is Salzburg at a distance of 80km or approximately 50 minutes driving time. Schladming ski season runs from November to April.

Schladming was made a town in 1322 and its town square was pedestrianised 672 years later. A World Cup Downhill was first staged here in 1973 and the Alpine Skiing World Championships in 1982. The ski area now links four mountains in the 'Schladming-4-Mountain-Swing' and the larger area includes nine mountains.

Schladming offers visitors a mixed package of leisure facilities when not skiing or 'boarding . A new swimming complex opened for the millennium. The facility includes a slide fountain and wave machine as well as an all year round heated outdoor pool.
The impressive indoor sports centre at the Sport Royer hotel includes a large pool, bowling alley, table tennis, indoor tennis, squash, shooting range, sauna, solarium, massage and a beauty parlour. There's also a fitness center.
On the snow the 8km (five mile) toboggan run down from the top of the Hochwurzen gondola is wonderful fun and is open in the evenings for night toboganning and night skiing, snow shoeing rather more exhausting. Sleigh rides are probably the most leisurely, invariably combined with a restaurant visit.
Cleared winter walking trails are marked for 30km/19 miles and there's also a parascending school.
Day trip excursions to Salzburg are popular.
