Established in 1957 the French ski resort Saint Lary Soulan lies at 2450 metres altitude in the Pyrenees region of the French Pyrenees. With the highest lifts and ski slopes below 2500m Saint Lary Soulan ski area is not snow sure. Over 85 snow cannons ensure artificial Saint Lary Soulan snow making covers 4km of ski trails, which equates to around 5 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Saint Lary Soulan (France) is Tarbes at a distance of 80km or approximately 75 minutes driving time. Saint Lary Soulan ski season runs from December to April.

There's plenty to do off the slopes in St Lary. Don't miss the thermal swimming pool complex with spa and all facilities esigned to take advantage of the area's thermal springs. These include the new fun spa centre. There's also and ice rink, cinema and sports hall for basketball and handball. Guided snow shoe tours are organised on circuits around Lake Oule or you an climb the Cabanes run and then take a three kilometre walk through the forest linking the foot of the slopes at Saint-Lary 1700 and Saint-Lary 1900. Dogsleding and paragliding are also available and snowmobiling tours are organised with a guide in the evening. Hour long circuits run from Saint-Lary 1700 to Saint-Lary 2400. The resort has a Bear Museum dedicated to the indigenous animal. This includes unique documentary video footage and operates as a centre for works of heritage, research and education on the species and its complex relationship with the human world. The Bear Museum is also a place of refuge for two bears born in captivity, Bingo and Apollo, formerly the victims of abuse.
