SNO-man says
The closest sizable village (second largest in the Tyrol) to the Stubai glacier, which some claim to be Europe's best, and at the Eastern end of the continent's largest year-round ski centre. It also has one of the world's biggest verticals down from it (off piste, conditions permitting). The ski area directly by the village itself is small and only suited to beginners and early intermediates. Nightlife is lively and the village has a leisure centre with indoor pool, shooting arena, two tennis courts, two squash courts, and bowling alley.

By the way, in winter every Friday, equipment and professional advice will be given to all climbers at the 20m high permanent ice-tower on the Stubai Glacier.
Over and above winter sports a winter-vacation in the Stubai Alps guarantees numerous other activities: ice-skating, horse riding, horse-drawn sleigh rides. There's a paragliding and hang-gliding school offering tandem flights.
For those who want to try their hand at tobogganing, there are more than ten runs with a total length of about 60 km present a real challenge. A "must" is the "Elfer", Tyrol's longest natural toboggan track, several times a week also open for nightly floodlit runs.
The "Auffang" in the charming neighbouring Oberberg-Valley can be reached on a huge tractor-drawn sleigh or after a gentle walk on a well groomed path through winter-wonderland. And this is only one out of 27 cosy mountain-huts being the aim of those who prefer winter-walks in the silence of a snow covered forest to the "action" of the "ski-circus".
