Nearby interesting attractions including the Earle A Chiles Centre of the West at the High Desert Museum 6 miles south of Bend. Featuring native flora and period artifacts, the centre's 9 meticulously detailed historic scenes take you back in time to witness the sights and sounds of the past. The 5-mile wide Newberry caldera is now home to rustic fishing resorts at Paulina and East lakes but was once the site of the largest eruptions in America. Take in the spectacular view from 7,985ft Paulina Peak, explore the Lava Cast Forest and visit the Lava River Case, a mile-long tunnel that opens into vast chambers.
