Levi Ski Holiday Facts
Established in 1932 the Finnish ski resort Levi lies at 200 metres altitude in the Lapland region of the Finnish ?. With the highest lifts and ski slopes at 531m Levi ski area is not snow sure. Over 142 snow cannons ensure artificial Levi snow making covers 14.1km of ski trails, which equates to around 31.9 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Levi (Finland) is Kittilä at a distance of 15km or approximately 15 minutes driving time. Levi ski season runs from November to May.

The fastest growing ski area in Finland, complete with two gondola lifts, with all hotels and slopes linked by a free bus service. The resort has a sports centre and a spa with jacuzzi, pool saunas and steam room. 28km of the cross-country trails are illuminated. Lifts operate from 10am to 8pm and include the only gondola in Finland. There are 886km of snowmobiling trails in the area. Visits are arranged to Santa Land in Rovaniemi and there are trips to see the Northern Lights.

All Levi's facilities are within easy reach and a shuttle bus provides free local transport . The Hotel Levintunturi is similar to a mini resort with an excellent range of facilities including a Spa and Exercise Centre where you can choose from a traditional Finnish sauna or a herbal steam sauna. Apart from the main swimming pool theres a whirlpool bath as well as various massaging jet baths and a separate childrens' pool. The Centre offers various services including physiotherapy, pool gymnastics and condition check-ups. Children have their own apres ski activity centre with a choice of slides, ball pools and bouncy castles.
A wide range of activities including snowmobile safaris which can last a few hours or a few days. Levi has almost 900km of snowmobile tracks which are among some of the best in Finland. Tracks include one to the top of Levi fell. Between 6 and 8m wide, the tracks include warning and information signs and there are resting huts along the way. There are approximately 1,000 snowmobiles in the area, 300 of which are available for rental and 700 privately owned. Rental companies can, if you wish, provide all the necessary gear. Kittilä has snowmobile shops and repair garages.
Dog sledding safaris are popular from a half day to five days with accommodation in wilderness huts. Guided tours of the recreation and fishing areas at lakes Pyhajarvi and Ruottamajarvi as well as the rivers of Aakenusjoki and Kapsajoki are available and refurbished wilderness huts are used for overnight stops. Programmes include fishing trips, hunting trips, canoe treks, hiking kick sled trekking and nature trips. Reindeer sleigh rides, snowshoe safaris and Lapland-style fishing through a hole in the ice can also be organised.
The Hotel Hullu Poro (Crazy Reindeer) has David-gym and exercise room and features luxurious Decleor aroma treatments for mind and body.

- In the coldest winter months of January and February you need a ski resort with some sunny south facing ski slopes, so your days on the snow doesn't feel like a polar expedition. Conversely, in the warmest spring skiing months of March and especially April, a ski resort with some cool and shady north facing slopes will ensure you're not skiing on slush, but benefitting from best late season snow. The best ski resorts have ski areas and slopes which face in all directions so that you're guaranteed greating skiing whatever the weather. Levi ski resort has ski slopes facing N S E W.
