The 'not skiing then?' list of activities available around Jackson is impressive even by 'major North American resorts' standards. Among the more unusual opportunities are a snowmobile ride over to Yellowstone National Park to check out Old Faithful and take a swim in a warm natural thermal pool. 16 snowmobiling companies operate in the area giving this and many other tour options. There are more than 10,000 elk wading through the snow just outside the town of Jackson (giving you a taste of what North America was like before the first Europeans arrived) and you can take a sight-seeing sleigh ride to see them. Other outdoor options include ballooning, climbing, dog sledding, flight seeing, snowshoeing and wildlife safaris. In the town of Jackson there are galleries, three cinemas, night skiing and tubing, museums, swimming at the Jackson Recreation Centre and a library to visit and concerts are staged there regularly. Indoor tennis is available at Teton Pines Resort.
