Established in 1890 the Norwegian ski resort Geilo lies at 1178 metres altitude in the Buskerud region of the Norwegian ?. With the highest lifts and ski slopes below 2500m Geilo ski area is not snow sure. Over ? snow cannons ensure artificial Geilo snow making covers 24km of ski trails, which equates to around 70 of the ski slopes. The nearest airport transfer to Geilo (Norway) is Oslo Gardemoen at a distance of 245km or approximately 180 minutes driving time. Geilo ski season runs from November to April.

One of Scandinavia's larger resorts, Geilo is a modern resort but with a long history, having welcoming visitors since 1890. The village is well spread out with lifts emanating from four different points and slopes on both side of the valley. There is a second (bus linked) ski area at Vestlia.

Geilo's has a range of mainly outdoor activities although there is a swimming pool and cinema in the village. Ice climbing and ski orienteering are both popular pastimes and you could go on a wilderness camp to experience mountain life as it was in days gone by. No modern equipment is used and you will have the chance to try using a bow and arrow, practice wearing snowshoes and try your luck at ice fishing on the fiord.
Some unusual modes of transport to try out and have fun at the same time include dog sledding, reindeer sledding, snowrafting and traditional Norwegian toboganning.
