For Winter 2008-9 Copper opened a Woodward indoor action sports and gymnastics winter facility, giving boarders and freeskiers the opportunity to perfect aerial tricks in a safe indoor environment using state of the art training equipment delivered by expert staff. The 19,000sq ft indoor facility is designed to get first-timers comfortable in the air whether they are going for your first grab or trying to land their first double cork. The progressive teaching tools, including trampolines, foam pits, resi-pits and bungee systems will help skiers and boarders push the limits of their abilities. Camps last between a day and a week and in the evenings the facility is available for family fun.
You can also choose to strap on your skates and spend the afternoon ice skating around West Lake or take a snowmobiling tour in the Arapaho National Forest, arranged through the Copper Mountain Welcome Center. Cross country skiing, telemarking or snowshoeing are available at the Copper Mountain Cross Country Center.
The Copper Mountain Racquet and Athletic Club is an asset the resort is especially proud of and which it regards as one of the premiere athletic facilities in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The club boasts an indoor lap pool, spas, saunas, steam rooms and massage facilities. Then there's a full-service weight room including free weights, Nautilus and Cybex equipment; exercise machines including stationary bikes, rowers and stair climbers; a wide range of exercise classes including aerobics, water aerobics and body toning; racquetball, and two indoor tennis courts with a tennis pro on staff and a variety of high altitude tennis camps and clinics.
