The twenty or so shops in the area are divided between the two main villages (Niederau and Oberau) with a few other outlets in Affach. All have sports shops, banks and small supermarkets. Niederau has a photographic store, chemist, post office and shoe shop. Oberau has a grocer, baker and a shop selling traditional national costume as well as a shoe shop.
The farmers of the Wildschönau sell their goods direct in the Bauernladl shop in Auffach.
