At just an hour's drive from Geneva, Flaine's known as a 'fly-in, ski-in ski-out' resort. The ease of skiing that families and keen skiers rave about here's no accident – legendary architect Marcel Lajos Breuer designed it to be as ski friendly as possible, and he did a jolly good job. A ski lift or piste is never far away, and the town itself is entirely traffic-free, with cars only allowed to enter to drop off and pick up luggage. Whilst it won't be winning the gong for chocolate box charm, Breuer's work...
With its high altitudes producing outstanding ski conditions throughout the season, Flaine is famed for offering an all-round ski area with plenty of slopes for all abilities. It is the perfect place for some quality skiing or snowboarding. Flaine is a popular place to learn to ski or snowboard and even has free beginners lifts for those who are finding their feet. The schools all have English speaking instructors who can guide you through the basics and have you gliding down the slopes in no time. Once you...
The excellent skiing in the resort is matched by fun après ski, and there's something to suit everyone - from a family night out to an all-night party thanks to a range of places to eat, drink and dance. If you're staying in Flaine Forum, you'll enjoy all the restaurants and bars right on your doorstep. The après is a short bus ride from Flaine Foret which is considered the slightly more residential part of Flaine. You can get a ski lift or shuttle bus into the town for après so you won't be missing out. ...

"Very pleased, wouldn’t hesitate to come back"

We were really pleased with these apartments. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at how spacious they were. We took a two bedroom apartment because last time we went on a self-catered holiday we went to Tignes, and we found that a four person apartment can be quite cramped. We were looking for somewhere with separate bedrooms so we weren’t on top of each other and this fit the bill very well. There were 3 floors, the first room was a living room with a kitchen, and a seating area with a television. There were patio doors opening up to an outside area, and we were quite lucky because we were on the edge of the development so there were uninterrupted views over the fields and forest. There had been lots of snow so the views were beautiful. It was nicely isolated, without being in the middle of nowhere. On the other two floors we found the sleeping accommodation, which comprised of two reasonably sized double bedrooms which were both ensuite. We were slightly spoilt really, the apartments were well presented, clean, tidy and better than we anticipated. We wouldn’t hesitate to go back, in fact we were thinking of going to the Rockies this coming season but if we don’t go there we will probably come back to these apartments. We used the restaurant onsite which was run by a friendly couple – the wife spoke good English. The food was good and they did a take away service as well which was handy, you could order your food in the morning and then come and pick it up after skiing and take it back to your apartment. There was also another nice little restaurant within walking distance, although this was quite expensive. The bus service was pretty good. You had to take the bus to get to the lifts and into the main town. After 6pm it didn’t run all the way to the Refuge du Golf which is worth noting. You can take a taxi, or I suppose it would be possible to walk from the next stop down but this was quite a long way, especially if you have ski stuff with you. The reps told us that you could ask the bus driver to take you all the way up if you gave him some extra money but I’m not sure about this, we never tried it. I suppose that would be the only thing that could be improved, the people who run the apartments could put some more pressure on the authorities to extend the bus service. It wasn’t such a problem for us as we didn’t really want to go out in Flaine in the evenings. Skiing is so tiring we prefer to spend time together in the apartments.
