Overview: chalet description: Chalet Nid d'Aigle description

Chalet Nid d'Aigle (sleeps 10-12) 1650m. Chalet Nid d'Aigle is a super traditionally built chalet  situated in the heart of Courchevel 1650, attached to our Chalet Aigle d'Or.

Built in a wonderful Savoyarde style in traditional stone and wood cladding, it offers great accommodation for groups of 10/12 people.  All the bedrooms are ensuite with modern bathrooms for all.  The living/dining room is absolutely great and the perfect space in which to gather to either plan your day on the slopes over a hearty breakfast or alternatively to relax after the day's activities over a sumptuous afternoon tea.  It has a super open-fire and french windows leading to a great balcony with far reaching views across the valley, up towards the peak of Saulire and over the village of Moriond. There is an an additional large sunny terrace on the ground floor and a small single hammam for those looking to ease their aches and pains.

Chalet Nid d'Aigle is in a lovely location in the old village of Moriond and access to the main high street with its bars, restaurants and shops is easily accessible via the recently installed escalator or via a short (uphill) walk.  The main bubble out of 1650 leading to the popular and uncrowded pistes in the immediate area is also just about 200m away.

The Chalet Nid d'Aigle will be superbly run by two of our hand-picked chalet hosts (possibly a couple) who live out nearby.

Did You Know:  The English tranlsation for Nid d'Aigle is Eagle's Nest which in turn, when translated into German, is Kehlsteinhaus - an incredible chalet built as a birthday present for Adolf Hitler in 1938 in the German mountains, a place where he could privately entertain friends and dignatories...

Meals: Chalet Nid d'Aigle food & drink

We offer our properties on a flexible catering basis therefore providing our guests with as much choice as possible when choosing a fully-catered, part-catered or self-catered chalet or apartment. Your preferences will be discussed at the time of booking and a tailor-made itinerary will be costed based on your requirements.

Our chalet hosts all enjoy cooking and take pride in what they serve and whilst they are not necessarily qualified chefs, they have good experience of dinner party cooking and many of them will have attended one of the well-regarded cookery schools with whom we work closely to ensure the highest calibre of staff possible.

If choosing the fully catered or part catered option, you will be assured of good home-cooked food prepared and served by our specially selected chalet hosts. We do not offer luxury items or haute cuisine, we serve good wholesome hearty food fit for anyone after a hard day on the slopes. Menus will be varied and may include local dishes as well as the more traditional UK favourites such as roasts, lasagne or casseroles.

Our menus have been formed over many years taking into account previous guests’ likes and recommendations and whilst we believe this plan to offer excellent variety, there will be the odd occasion when a dish might not be well-received. We would ask you therefore that if you have any specific dietary requirements or a yearning for dishes in particular, you enquire before booking your holiday and provide us with as much notice as possible regarding specific diets such as vegetarian, vegan, celiac or non-dairy etc.

We update Chalet Nid d'Aigle's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

"Amazing stay at Nid d'Aigle"

5/ out of 5
Brilliant chalet, had an amazing time! It has a great location by the escalator and near the centre of 1650 and the main lifts. The staff were amazing and really looked after us. My room was amazing, the whole place was a lot better than I had expected. Everything went well, including arranging for the ski hire guy to come down and drop my kit off – a local chap comes with a selection of stuff and does the fitting, then picks it up from the locker at the end of the week. The cook was amazing and I ate far too much! Generally it was a good week.

"Basic Courchevel chalet"

It was basic but fine. Not having a shower in the bedroom was probably a minus point, and without a shower curtain it felt a bit like camping. It was also quite cold, the chalet had one of those funny heaters which used to be a fireplace, but had been changed to a paraffin fire which gave off no heat but just had a funny smell. There were no electric boot heaters and with the heater in my room breaking too it was hard to dry stuff. The girl looking after us was really young (18 and doing a gap year) but I was really impressed. She was quite quiet and kind of served us then went. The rep was really sweet and popped round several times to chat to us, he was super. Some of the guests turned up late and one was a vegetarian, and from that point on we ate fish every night… It ended up being a bit of a joke between the guests! If they’d just done a veggie option and a main option all week it would have been much better. In terms of the location, it was a bit of a schlep uphill. What would have been a good set up is if ski hire or ski lockers were connected with the booking. I couldn’t work out from the map where the closest ski hire was and ended up booking it at the other end of the resort. The shop wasn’t happy with us leaving equipment there so we had to carry equipment up and down on the escalator.
