Overview: chalet description: Chalet Hotel Annahof description

NB: This is a "family" chalet, so all bookings must include at least one child or teenager.

The Chalet Hotel Annahof offers an unbeatable mix of the absolute prime location in Saas Fee, beautifully refurbished bedrooms and lounge area, and our Chalet Hotel catering and service. Our friendly, professional team of staff look forward to welcoming you to Saas Fee and the Chalet Annahof this winter.

Location, location, location!
Saas Fee is a longish village, with all the ski-lifts and slopes at one end, so location here is even more critical than usual, and we are delighted to say that the Chalet Hotel Annahof enjoys the absolutely prime location, with skiing to the doorstep from the foot of the main slopes.

It is equally easy to access the skiing at the start of the day, with the three main high-speed lifts all within only approximately 3 minutes’ walk – see opposite under ‘Ski Area Access’ for details. From the après ski point of view, the main resort high street starts just across the bridge a minute’s walk away, with the inviting bars, cafés and shops of the delightful village centre all conveniently close at hand.

Comfortable Hotel Facilities It is rare indeed to find a hotel owner so completely in tune with the family holiday concept, that he was prepared to refurbish virtually his entire hotel to suit our guests! But that is exactly what we have found for you here at the Annahof. The original bedrooms have been converted into comfortable, well appointed family suites and bedrooms, offering some of our programme’s very best accommodation. All the attractive suites and bedrooms have private en suite facilities and satellite TV with some English-speaking channels.

The dining-room and bar retain their original, traditional Swiss style, while the newer reception area and small lounge add to the comfort of the communal areas.

Added to all this are the sauna, steam-room and whirlpool spa-bath – the perfect way to relax tired skiing muscles after a long day on the slopes. Equally importantly, we have spacious, newly refurbished purpose-built Nursery and Snow Club rooms, full of fun and games for our younger guests.

Ski Area Access The Chalet Hotel Annahof simply could not be better placed for access to all parts of Saas Fee’s superb ski area.

The Spielboden and Plattjen gondolas are less than 3 minutes walk away (250m), and the Alpin Express only approximately 3 minutes walk (310m). Alternatively, you can take the drag-lift just 2 minutes’ walk away, which connects to the Felskinn cable-car, taking you straight up to 3,000m to start your day.
Equally importantly, wherever you finish your ski day in Saas Fee, runs from all areas can bring you back home to the door of the Annahof’s ski-room.
Beginners also have their own dedicated area just 3 minutes’ walk away across the bridge, and the children’s kindergarten-ski area is just by the gondolas’ base station, and so also less than  3 minutes’ walk away.

Traffic-free Saas Fee It is a joy to savour the charm of Saas Fee’s pretty village centre, completely free of the noise, pollution and road safety hazards of normal traffic, and only the resort’s unique ‘elektro-taxis’ (a little like glorified milk-floats!) hum quietly around the village streets. Coaches are also clearly not allowed into the centre, so on your arrival from the airport, you will be met off the coach by our resort team, including child care staff with spare buggies, at the main entrance to the village. From here it is a gentle 10-12 minute walk along the picturesque main street to the Annahof, enabling our team to point out useful village amenities en route, whilst all your luggage is transported for you directly to the Annahof’s welcoming reception.

Meals: Chalet Hotel Annahof food & drink

With a skiers’ buffet breakfast to start your day, afternoon tea to welcome you ‘home’, and 4- or 5-course evening meals with wine and coffee included to complete the evening, our chalets and Chalet Hotels provide by far the best value accommodation in the Alps!

We set high standards for our cuisine, and train our staff extensively before the season starts, to ensure that guests will enjoy every meal with us.

For six days of the week in both chalets and Chalet Hotels, our staff prepare all your meals for you. The majority of parents feel that young children can inhibit the dinner-party atmosphere at evening meals, especially if they are over-tired, so children under 13 years are served High Tea at around 5.30pm in our chalets and Chalet Hotels alike. They are not then permitted to join adult dinner, as they are generally happier either getting some rest ready for tomorrow’s adventures, or if 6 years old or more, joining our child care staff in Cocoa Club.

On their one day off per week, your host in chalets will prepare a Continental-style breakfast which will be left for you to help yourselves, whilst in Chalet Hotels, a full buffet breakfast will still be served to you as normal. That evening, you and your family then have the chance to eat out in one of the local cafés or restaurants, which your Representative will be happy to help you arrange.

Breakfast

A good breakfast is essential on a ski holiday, so we provide our chalet guests a choice of cereals or porridge, fruit juices, plentiful tea, coffee and bread (and croissants in France), cold meats, cheese and preserves, and boiled eggs. This is normally presented buffetstyle for you to help yourself.

In addition to all the above, our Chalet Hotels and NEW this year in all our chalets, a hot dish, such as scrambled eggs on toast, or home-made pancakes with maple syrup is also offered.

Piste Picnics

Our Chalet Hotel teams can also prepare a packed lunch for you on request, at a small local charge. For those keen to keep their Eurospending to an absolute minimum, this is the ideal way to keep your costs down!

Afternoon Tea

The traditional ‘welcome home’ after a day on the slopes will be laid out for you in your chalet or Chalet Hotel, ready for your return, every day except the team’s one day off each week. A good cup of tea or coffee is the perfect accompaniment to a delicious slice of freshly home-baked cake – different every day and our Chalet Hotels also feature a selection of cakes for you to choose from.

Children’s High Tea

High Tea provides children under 13 with a healthy menu, but tailored more towards children’s tastes than our main adult dinner, and puréed food is also always available for infants on request. Parents are asked to accompany their children under 36 months at High Tea please, whilst children from 3-12 years will be supervised by staff.

Adult Dinner in Chalets

In all our chalets, our four-course dinners for adults (and children 13 and over only) start with canapés and an apéritif, followed by an appetiser, main course and dessert. The meal is accompanied by a choice of wines, unlimited during the meal service, with freshly chilled water also always available, and followed by complimentary coffee or tea with chocolates to round off your evening.

Special Diets

Vegetarian options are always on our ‘Culinary Choice’ menu in our Chalet Hotels, and are available in our chalets if you advise us in advance. Other special diets can generally be catered for at a cost of £35 per person per week. Any dietary requirements must be advised to us at the time of booking in order for us to be fully prepared.

Family Dining Chalets

For those families who prefer to eat together with their younger children, we offer our Family Dining option in any chalet of up to 12 beds, if you book the whole chalet for your own party, subject to chalet suitability. Everyone then eats together in the evening, starting at 6.30-7.00pm. The meals are based on our adult menus, with some flexibility for younger taste buds, although not a complete ‘à la carte’ choice!

The additional charge for changing meals to Family Dining is £39 per child.

We update Chalet Hotel Annahof's details often, but facilities do change. e.g. some extras listed by the supplier as "free" or included might only be for the first time you use them, or for one time per party, then charged for further use. If any specific feature is essential to your holiday, make sure you ask us to confirm the details of it before you book your holiday.

Perhaps this pretty car-free village has gained a reputation as ‘Pearl of the Alps’ because it sits nestled in a powder bowl encircled by thirteen 4000m peaks. Massive mountains rise from every side of the valley like the peaks of a Toblerone bar, providing the village with a dramatic and awe-inspiring backdrop. Visitors rave about the high-altitude ski area, similar in height to neighbouring Zermatt, with its extensive glacier which allows for skiing almost all year round. Many ski teams choose to train here ...
The area has something to offer skiers and snowboarders of every level. It’s a good choice if you’re hitting the slopes for the first time as the nursery slopes are snow sure and there are some fantastic ski schools here. Take little learners to the local Kid’s Fun Park for an exciting and safe area with a magic carpet, slalom run, snow carousel and lots of fun toys. There are three ski schools to choose from and if you go further afield to Saas-Grund you’ll find the charming Hohsi Snowland which is a self-p...
For lunch head to Boccolino (next to the nursery slopes) which dishes up pizza, pasta and local specialities. On the other end of the scale is the decadent Fletschhorn, one of the top restaurants in the region, with one Michelin star and 18 points in the Gault Milau gourmet guide. It’s set in the Relais & Chateaux hotel, a 10-minute taxi ride from town. The young folk tend to hang out at Popcorn, a bar and club beneath the hotel of the same name. If you’re still feeling the buzz after a day on the slopes then ...
