sno mobi is the world’s first mobile ski resort guide

Conceived in 2006, the sno mobile project was developed live online over the course of the next 2 years, during which time this free ski resort guide for mobile-web was promoted to and used by skiers and snowboarders worldwide.

The central aim of sno mobile has always been that the website must simply “work” on all mobile phones, and to this end sno mobi employed “device detection” and dynamic web-page coding from the inception of the ski resort guide.

Device Detection:  unlike regular or “desktop” internet browsers, mobile web was incredibly fragmented and it was impossible for one html page to work on all phones – sno mobile is designed to detect what kind of device and browser is asking for a web page – ie do they understand html, wml, xhtml mp, etc

Dynamic Coding:  rather than have an actual page in the server, sno mobile has a description of a page, which is then coded on the fly depending on what type of mobile device is browsing our ski holidays and ski resorts info – what ever device type you are using, sno.mobi simply works.

After pioneering the mobile ski resorts guide which “puts the whole ski resort in your pocket”, sno mobile became the first ski site to sell ski holidays on mobile web.  The massive success of this lead to the desktop version of our ski holidays site at sno.co.uk
